Orthodontics is Dr. Shantall’s clinical focus. She has completed hundreds of orthodontic cases for South Florida families, so she understands the process and can tell you what to expect at every step. Originally from Venezuela and raised by two physicians, she’s known for a gentle approach, careful preparation, and explaining things in plain language, in English or Spanish.

Your braces fee depends on your treatment plan. Here’s how the costs fit together, so there are no surprises. Our lower fee comes from a small team, buying-group pricing on materials and a deliberately small braces schedule, not shortcuts. More on this

Retainers are not included in the braces treatment fee. With orthodontic treatment at our office, retainers cost $200 per arch, or $400 for upper and lower arches.
Braces begin only once any active cavities, gum disease or other conditions are treated. That care is separate from the braces fee.

Are braces right for everyone? Not always, or not yet.
Braces work best on a healthy mouth that’s kept clean every day. We’ll wait to start, and help you get ready first, if any of these apply:
- An active infection, untreated cavities or active gum disease
- You’re having, or recently had, radiation treatment to the head or neck
- Cavities forming quickly, or you can’t yet commit to cleaning around braces every day
- Certain medical conditions or medications, like bone-strengthening drugs, that we’ll review with your health history
- Jaw growth or development outside the range Dr. Shantall is comfortable treating

Restorative care with Dr. Matthew Dillon, DDS, MAGD
Tooth replacement and cavity treatment are often completed with co-owner and restorative lead Dr. Matthew Dillon, who shares Dr. Shantall’s focus on how teeth look and work together. He holds a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), which requires more than 1,100 hours of continuing education. Dr. Shantall leads the orthodontic side of the practice.

Dr. Shantall examines your teeth, gums and bite, listens to your goals, and tells you whether braces are a good fit. Any active cavities or gum disease are treated before braces begin.

Ongoing care and follow-up
Adjustment visits during treatment, coordinated with your regular dental care, then a retention plan when braces come off.

How much do braces cost?
Braces treatment starts at $3,500; your exact fee depends on your treatment plan. We’ll review the fee, what it includes, and your payment options at your complimentary evaluation, before you commit. Payment plans start from $150/month with a $400 initial payment.
Why does it cost less than many orthodontic offices? Is the quality lower?
No. The lower fee comes from how we’re set up, not from cutting corners. We’re a small team, and we buy materials through a dental buying group, which keeps our material costs down. We also keep our braces schedule intentionally small instead of treating a high volume of patients, so Dr. Shantall can give each case her attention. If your case is better suited to an orthodontist, we’ll tell you and coordinate the referral directly.
What is the $400 initial payment?
It’s the payment made when you begin treatment, and it’s credited toward your treatment fee. The rest is split into monthly payments or financed through Cherry.
What payment options do you offer?
Our office payment plan starts from $150/month after the $400 initial payment; the number of payments depends on your treatment fee. Financing through Cherry is also available as a separate option, subject to approval; rates and terms depend on your application.
Are retainers included?
No. Retainers are separate from the braces treatment fee. With orthodontic treatment at our office, they cost $200 per arch, or $400 for upper and lower arches. The team will explain the recommended retention plan and its fees before you proceed.
Is there a fee for the evaluation?
No. Your braces evaluation is complimentary. If you decide to start treatment, any records needed for your treatment plan will be explained first.
Is Dr. Shantall an orthodontist?
No. Dr. Shantall is a general dentist whose clinical focus is orthodontics, and she has completed hundreds of orthodontic cases for South Florida families. She treats appropriate cases here. When specialist care is recommended, our team will explain why and help coordinate a referral.
Do you check my insurance?
Yes. Send us your insurance information and our team can check your orthodontic benefits before you decide. Coverage and your final out-of-pocket cost depend on your plan.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on your treatment plan. Braces treatment often takes 12 to 30 months, commonly 18 to 24 months. You’ll get an estimate at your consultation. How long you take to pay is a separate question from how long treatment takes.
Am I a candidate for braces? Is it right for everyone?
Not everyone, or not right away. We treat teens and adults, and every case is evaluated individually. Braces can only begin once your mouth is healthy: no active infection, untreated cavities or gum disease. We also won’t start during radiation treatment to the head or neck, or before reviewing certain medical conditions and medications (like bone-strengthening drugs) with your health history, or if cavities are forming quickly or you can’t yet commit to cleaning around braces every day, because braces can make decay worse. Jaw growth and development also need to be within a range Dr. Shantall is comfortable treating. If something needs care first, we’ll explain it and help you take care of it, here or with a specialist.
